Smurfing for Letters

What happened to good old snail mails? The ones that made waiting for the postman such torture and pleasure all at once? What happened to long, elaborate sentences filled with emotion? What happened to weeks of oblivion of someone's state remedied by a letter that bears good news?

What happened to "Dear You" and "How do you do?"
What happened to...
"I'm doing great thanks, I hope you are too?"

What happened to perfumed notes?
And "here I have included one of my photos"?
What happened to folding paper and sliding into envelopes?
What happened to licking stamps and posting with hope?

What happened to letters?
The good ones with happy stories?
The simple ones sharing your well being.
The letters that takes hours of thought to write, days to arrive and weeks for a reply?
The ones that is kept like treasure?

What ever happened to them? I'm all for the internet and blogs and social networking sites. I'm addicted to all these things modern living has given me. I love them. I admit that I don't know what my life would be without them.

It's just sometimes...somethings from the past are worth remembering...worth treasuring...worth keeping. Sometimes.

Just once in this modern day, I wish I could receive a letter that is not from EPF, Nestle, Toys ‘R’ Us or MPH. Just once I wish I could receive an envelope that is not a wedding invitation. Just once I'd like a letter with stories to share and simple queries of my well being...in an envelope...with a stamp...delivered by a postman to my home.

Wouldn't that be a wonderful blast from the past? Just once.
