That Pesky Past

I was talking to a friend about implications of pasts. Some we were proud of, some we wish never happened... and we talked about how some people just can't let go. It's just sad when people keep bringing up things that have long passed and use it as reasons to fight or worst still to stay together. I mean how can you stay together just because you share common history when obviously now you are heading in different directions? At least that's how I feel... and since that friend asked for my opinion I said just that. The past should be a lesson. Learn from it and try not to make the same mistakes... but more importantly don't make excuses based on it. *Shrugs* Right?
